You may have noticed there was no extension; however for those of you who had internet issues (mine was down the other day too |: ) your entries will still be counted (as of Dec. 13th). Late pieces beyond that unfortunately cannot be counted. Thank you for participating!
With the wave of activities taking up the summertime, the Dragon Hunt had to be pushed back. Not that the dragons mind, of course. In fact, I think they were hoping we'd forget all together! Never fear, the event is finally here. Let's get to it!
General Show Rules:
The Goal:
Retrieve a special piece of treasure otherwise guarded by the dragon. Once defeated in a fair fight, the dragon will allow you to enter the lair and choose a single item to prove your victory to the Queen. However, accidents happen, so be careful when facing off against a dragon and remember: it may not be easy to retrieve your token. Lairs may be underwater, hidden deep beneath the earth, or high up in the mountains. Be prepared!
The Weather:
Overcast, steadily darkening clouds throughout the day. Chances of snow are high. The trees have turned to vibrant shades of reds and golds, leaving branches bare where they've begun to fall in earnest. The mountains are heavy with snow this time of year and hunting there will be extremely difficult.

No late entries will be accepted.
★ Your image must contain a Nordanner and a dragon. Riders optional. (Some horses just have minds of their own!) Dragon tack is a necessity for this hunt! Otherwise you risk serious injury. You may enter a team of Nordanners but they must all be drawn in the same image. (Please note: Not drawing riders can put you at a disadvantage compared to those who did.)
★ One image per person. If you do multiple entries anyway we will choose the one we feel is the best and judge that one only. Collabs allowed but you must decide how to split the prizes between you if you are the winner.
★ One image must depict the hunt and/or battle itself. This will be the main show entry and what we will be judging. However, you may enter a second, optional image of you and your horse (or just your horse!) retrieving your token from the dragon’s lair. What that object is, is up to you!
- These images will be RNG’d together for a mini prize. Prizes could include: +2 extra kaaring to the horse entered, 200
, +1 breeding to any one of your horses, 450 , or a 1 month premium membership (you may opt for 300 points instead if you wish).- Please note: This will be RNG with effort taken into account. If I roll the names and yours is the winner, but you did an uncolored pencil sketch on lined paper while making snow angels and having a snowball fight at the same time, I’ll roll again in favor of the nicely colored pieces.
- Prizes will be randomized as well, so you never know what you might get!
★ This show will be judged on effort. Whining, bitching, throwing things/llamas/cake/small children and generally making the winners feel bad will not be tolerated! You will get an official group warning for exhibiting these behaviors. Nobody likes a sore loser and it can't feel all that great being one, either. Judging on effort, against your gallery, is a time-consuming process that sometimes comes down to tiny nit-picks between entries. Losing doesn't mean you're horrible, it just means we think you have even more potential. Chin up, and if you must complain, please do it privately where the winner cannot see you.
★ We will also be looking at stories, though they won’t be the deciding factor/have as much weight as your image as we know not everyone loves storytelling. However they might tip the scales for you, so if you’ve got a great idea, be sure to include it!
★ While it’s great to go out of the box with your entry, be careful when doing something more artisan-craftsy as it makes it very hard to judge against other entries.
★ Tracing allowed, though not encouraged. Must use actual stock photos, no Google-sourced images. Failure to credit stock providers will get your entry disqualified. Remember to check stock rules; some providers don’t allow their stock used for Nordanners.
★ Potions allowed and encouraged! Note that you must have your kaaring status confirmed to use the unlockable potions and your entry will be disqualified if you use them without that.
★ Leasing group horses is permitted! However, no more than 4 people can lease the same horse and you can’t lease more than one (see the “one image only” rule). Comment on that horse’s import image with “YOU ARE THE FAIREST OF THEM ALL” or just “Leasing for Nordanner Dragon Hunt.” First come first serve, but do NOT reserve a horse if you don’t intend to draw them or risk being eaten by dragons. It's rude.
★ Images must all be NEW for this event! Re-using old work is NOT acceptable.

While not a deal-breaker if you choose to go with your own dragon design, please note that these designs are officially recognized by the group and therefore officially exist in the Alerian world.
